8. PSI I 103 11 x 22 cm The only papyri that have survived from the wetlands of the Nile Delta are carbonized rolls. When a fire broke out in public archives, the carbonization process preserved the administrative rolls, which Egyptian merchants subsequently cut and glued to boards. As a result, they are now part of some of the most important Western papyrus collections. This papyrus contains an official’s report on taxes collected from villages. |
