1. PSI XIII 1300 11 x 14.5 cm First published in June 1937 by Medea Norsa, a scholar who worked with Girolamo Vitelli, the ostracon from the 2nd century BC is inscribed with several strophes from one of Sappho’s odes (fr. 2 Lobel–Page). The text was probably copied by a pupil under dictation. In works ranging from Norsa’s editio princeps to Franco Ferrari’s recent contributions (2001), generations of scholars have attempted to interpret the lines that have fortunately been preserved on this extremely fragile writing material. |
