The stained glass windows were the last part of the Library complex to be realized. They bear Medici heraldic motifs connected with Clement VII (1478-1534) and Cosimo I (1519-1574). The decoration which comprises grotesque motifs, arms and emblems is probably the work of Flemish artisans following drawings by Giorgio Vasari.
